Social & Contextual Impact on children undergoing Liver Transplantation

Established in 2020, the SOCIAL-Tx study is dedicated to understanding the lived experiences of children and their families as they undergo liver transplantation. Through surveys and qualitative interviews, we want to better understand the social determinants of liver disease—that is, where a child lives, learns, and plays—to improve transplant care for these children. Patients and their families undergoing liver transplantation at one of the SOCIAL-Tx study sites may be eligible to enroll.

This study has been funded continuously through research support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and the UCSF Academic Senate. (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT04551742)
