Congratulations to lab member Susan Gutierrez, MD! She has received the 2025 NASPGHAN Foundation/QOL Medical Research Award to study strategies for helping children with intestinal failure achieve independence from intravenous nutrition.
This $150,000 award will enable her to advance our understanding of pediatric intestinal failure, a debilitating disease with high morbidity and mortality.
Her project pairs registry-based outcomes data with provider and caregiver interviews to identify which clinical strategies are most effective, and understand the real-world barriers and facilitators shaping how they’re used in practice. We look forward to sharing her findings.
